Matthew was born and raised in a suburb of Toronto. He studied Marketing in college, but upon graduating, decided to apply to the police force. At age 22, he became a police officer in Toronto. A year later, he had a "chance" meeting with an acting agent who decided to give him a shot at auditioning for television commercials. After landing his first three auditions in a row, Matthew realized that he had something to offer this industry. Over the next few years he became very busy as an actor in Toronto. In 1999, he decided to leave the police force in order to further pursue his acting career.

Now, years later, Matthew has established himself as a versatile actor in the television and film industry. He has performed in a vast range of roles, allowing him to stay free of industry stereotypes. He prides himself on working and studying hard for every role he encounters. Since many of the roles that he gets cast in involve a certain degree of strength, conditioning and agility, Matt spends a lot of his spare time keeping in top physical shape, both at the gym and through his mixed martial arts training. Matthew approaches each role with a refreshed enthusiasm, and with the desire to make a positive contribution to the production.
